Trump calls for US veto of UN resolution on settlements
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePresident-elect Donald Trump call for the US to veto an Egypt-drafted UN resolution demanding that Israel immediately halt its settlement activities in the Palestinian territories and East Jerusalem.
“The resolution being considered at the United Nations Security Council regarding Israel should be vetoed,” the Republican says in a statement issued ahead of the vote.
“As the United States has long maintained, peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians will only come through direct negotiations between the parties, and not through the imposition of terms by the United Nations,” he says.
