A man stabbed three African migrants in south Tel Aviv on Tuesday in what police are calling a hate-motivated crime.
The three were lightly injured in the attack and were taken to hospital for treatment. The perpetrator ran away and the police have launched an investigation to track him down.
An eyewitness told Maariv that the man entered a shop owned by African migrants in the Shapira neighborhood and without saying a word, stabbed the three men that were in the store. After the stabbing, he hurled a computer at the store’s proprietor and ran away.
“I hadn’t ever seen that person in my life. I have no idea who he is or what he wanted,” the proprietor said.
Tensions between migrants and veteran residents of the city’s poorer southern neighborhoods have increased in recent months, leading to several violent attacks on migrants, including beatings and firebombing of homes.
