Masked men penetrated an IDF base in northern Israel on Friday, violently robbed a soldier and fled.
The attack took place before dawn at Camp Naftali, which is located approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of the Sea of Galilee.

The men tied up one soldier, stealing his gun as well as three other weapons.
Authorities suspect that the robbers had help from inside the base. Police and military police opened an investigation and were searching the area.

Metal thieves frequently steal from IDF bases, and some robbers are after equipment and weapons, as well.
The IDF has invested NIS 7 million (roughly $1.8 million) in a new surveillance system, according to Ynet, which is being installed in bases across the country.
