Need to hear some new sounds?
Try the Ofer Mizrahi Trio, which will bring its sounds of folk and jazz, Turkish, Indian and Caucasian music to Jerusalem’s Confederation House on September 28.
Ofer Mizrahi plays the Leviathan or whale guitar, an instrument he designed and built as an advanced version of an Indian slide guitar with 24 strings.
Through his music Mizrahi aims for a range of sounds between East and West, and looks to integrate what he learned from Hindustani music master Pandit Buddhadev Das-Gupta.
He’s also brought those sounds to his collaborative work with Israeli musicians Idan Raichel, Omri Mor, Ravid Kahlani, Ester Rada, Liraz Charhi, Riff Cohen and others.
Mizrahi will perform with his trio, including Mayu Shviro on cello and David Michaeli on contrabass, on September 28 at 8:30 p.m. at the Confederation House. Tickets can be purchased online.
