An argument over a slice of pizza earlier this week ended with one teen in hospital with stab wounds and another in custody, police announced Thursday.

On Saturday night police received a report of a fight in the Bayit Vagan neighborhood of Jerusalem. The suspect reportedly entered the pizzeria and stabbed one of the workers — allegedly with a shard of glass — in the torso and face. The suspect then fled the premises.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in moderate condition.

Detectives were quickly able to identify the suspect in the attack based on testimony of eyewitnesses and evidence collected at the scene, and within minutes they arrested him at his home.

The 15-year-old suspect was taken for questioning.

The investigation showed that the suspect allegedly came to the pizzeria several minutes before the attack and an argument broke out between him and the worker over a slice of pizza he wanted to buy.

After the two were separated, the suspect allegedly left the store and returned a few minutes later to attack the worker.

On Wednesday police sought to extend the suspect’s remand. On Friday the prosecutor is expected to present an indictment and will ask for him to remain detained until the end of the proceedings.
