150 people tested for HIV after hospital device improperly cleaned
Health Ministry states chances of infection are the lowest possible, supports Rabin Medical Center’s ‘cautious’ move to check patients

Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva has asked 150 of its patients to undergo testing for HIV after a piece of hospital equipment may have been improperly cleaned.
Each of the patients in question underwent an endoscopy procedure with a device that may not have been sufficiently disinfected after it was used to examine an HIV-positive patient.
The Health Ministry said in a statement that the patients in question face the lowest of possible risk of infection and that the ministry supports the hospital’s decision to act cautiously and refer them for testing.
