Man badly injured in Petah Tikva bombing dies of wounds

A man was killed on Sunday night after an explosive device detonated next to his motorcycle in Petah Tikva.

The 44-year-old victim of the blast was familiar to Israeli authorities, Ynet reported.

The incident occurred on Kehilat Chicago Street, and is the second such explosion in the city this month. Last week a man was injured in another blast.

Magen David Adom ambulance crews attended to the man at the scene, however he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Initial police investigations pointed to a criminal motive for the attack — as for last week’s incident — rather than a political one. Police believe the attacks are related to a third explosion in the city in recent months, and that all are part of an ongoing clash between rival drug gangs warring over territory.
