A 35-year-old male suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with an apparent crossbow attack outside Toronto, police said.
Police said officers responding to an emergency call Thursday found three deceased people on a residential street in the Scarborough neighborhood, on the east side of Canada’s largest metropolis.
Nearby, police also found a crossbow. Authorities said however that it was not immediately clear that the weapon had been used in the attack.
Paramedics said the three victims, two men and a woman, appear to have died from “blunt force” trauma, a police official said.
“We don’t know what has happened yet,” police spokesman David Hopkinson said, according to the CP24 website. “This could have been an accident. We have to wait until our investigators see what’s going on and then they will release that information.”

This is the second case of deaths involving a crossbow in the city in six years.
In December 2010, a man was shot dead with a crossbow in a public library filled with children and their parents, the Toronto Star reported. The victim’s 24-year-old son was charged with first degree murder. He was arrested in Scarborough — the same neighborhood in which Thursday’s crossbow incident took place.
