Flock of sheep captivates in beautiful Israeli time-lapse video

Lior Patel captures fascinating elasticity of herd over period of months near Yokne’am

An Israeli aerial photographer has made a rather hypnotizing time-lapse video after spending months documenting the movements of a flock of sheep in the north.

The drone-shot video by Lior Patel shows the flock as it moves in and out of its grazing areas near Yokne’am. Patel says he was particularly interested in the elasticity of the flock as it fills areas or moves through constricting spaces.

He did the work in close cooperation with the flock’s owners Keith Markov and Michael Morgan, and shepherds Moustafa Tabash and Mohammad Kabiya, who advised him on when and where it was best to film the animals.

“For the past seven months I have been following a large herd of sheep, from winter pasture to the movement and arrival at the summer pasture. The size of the herd ranges from 1000-1700 sheep,” Patel wrote on Facebook.

Kabiya and Tabash are aided in their work by several sheepdogs, who help steer the flock.

Patel said the project was “the most special photography experience I’ve ever had.”
