At least five Palestinians died Friday after a gas tanker truck overturned and ignited on a busy highway in the West Bank.

Multiple vehicles went up in flames, and at least four people trapped in one car were killed. Palestinian news reports quoted the Red Crescent saying that four women and a 10-year-old child were among those killed. The passenger vehicle was a rental car from the village of Halhul, near Hebron, according to Hebrew media reports.

One other person was moderately injured.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and firefighters battled the blaze.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 35 and Route 60, the main north-south highway running through the West Bank, just north of Hebron.
