Gaza man crosses into Israel, is apprehended by soldiers
Unarmed Palestinian taken in for questioning
IDF soldiers apprehended a Palestinian man who crossed over from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip into Israel early Sunday morning, the army said.
The man was caught near the fence outside the northern part of the Strip and was being questioned, the army said in a statement. He was unarmed.
The border fence contains a bevy of sensors and cameras to support the large number of soldiers who regularly patrol the area. Infiltrators are typically caught within moments.
Residents of Gaza occasionally cross the border into Israel, and are generally unarmed. They often do so with the intention of getting caught, seeking to escape the harsh circumstances in the Strip.
Last month three Palestinians were apprehended after crossing the border.
