Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered IDF and Defense Ministry officials to start planning a new barrier along the Jordanian border, Israel Radio reported Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Eran Ofir, a member of the committee in charge of planning border fences, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu ordered his office to begin evaluating the possibility of constructing a new barrier along Israel’s eastern border with Jordan.
Ofir, one of those in charge of the project along the Egyptian border, told Israel Radio that that fence would be completed by the beginning of 2013. He said 181 kilometers out of 227 were already finished, and some 1,000 workers were laboring to finish the job.
