An Israeli search team was making its way to Peru on Wednesday to search for two missing Israeli tourists who were involved in a rafting accident there.
The two disappeared when their raft overturned on a stretch of the Apurimac River in southern Peru Monday afternoon, Israel’s Foreign Ministry said.
Their families have been notified.
The raft contained eight Israelis and a guide. Six of the Israelis and the guide were in good condition in the city of Cuzco in southeastern Peru after the accident.
Peruvian search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and the Israeli consul in Lima was sent to the scene to investigate and is in touch with local authorities.
