Erdogan leads Turkey presidential elections with 20% vote counted
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is leading tightly-contested presidential elections with almost 60 percent of the vote, state media says, in results based on a 22% vote count.
Erdogan has 59.12%, with his nearest rival Muharrem Ince of the secular Republican People’s Party (CHP) earning 26.53%. Erdogan needs over 50% to retain the presidency in the first round, but these are still early results and the outcome could yet change drastically.
