Expecting riots, police limit access to Temple Mount for Friday prayers
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePolice are limiting access to the Temple Mount on Friday to Palestinian women, and men over 50 holding blue identity cards indicating they are residents of Jerusalem.
The decision comes amid intelligence information suggesting that Palestinian groups are planning to “undermine public order” at the holy site, police are saying, a reference to expected rioting over the escalating fighting on the Gaza front.
According to the Jerusalem police, forces are deploying in the alleyways of the Old City to keep order in the streets surrounding the Temple Mount as well.
