Gabbay favors letting workers from Gaza into Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleZionist Union chief Avi Gabbay says he favors allowing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip into Israel to work.
Touring around the Gaza Strip border area, Gabbay says that such a move is beneficial for both Israelis and Palestinians.
“In Israel we have a shortfall of workers that affects the cost of living and the cost of housing and here (in Gaza) there are tens of thousands of unemployed people who can pass security checks and make a living here,” Gabbay says, adding that the idea is supported by the security establishment, but blocked by the fears of politicians.
Speaking to residents of the Israeli communities near the border, Gabbay reiterates he has zero tolerance for attacks on them from Gaza.
