Gantz announces 1,000 IDF troops to help reinforce police following deadly attacks

Defense Minister Benny Gantz has ordered 1,000 IDF soldiers allocated to help bolster police forces following the string of deadly terror attacks in Israel, his office says.
The troops will be combat soldiers still in training.
Gantz says 12 battalions have been sent to the West Bank and another two to the Gaza border since four people were killed in a shooting and car-ramming attack in Beersheba, the first of three deadly attacks over the past week.
The security services will focus on locating potential attackers on social media, foiling attempts of Palestinians to illegally enter Israel, and weapons sales, Gantz says.
The moves come following a meeting with top security and military officials.
