After Hezbollah launches an overnight missile attack on Israel that sparked widespread Israeli strikes on the terror group in Lebanon, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam calls Hezbollah’s military operations “illegal acts.”
“We declare a ban Hezbollah’s military activities and confine its role to the political realm,” Salam says in a statement, demanding that Lebanon’s military prevent any such attacks.
He also stresses Beirut’s “rejection of any military operation launched from Lebanese territory outside the framework of legitimate bodies.”
Salam emphasizes his government’s commitment to the 2024 ceasefire with Israel that ended an Israeli ground operation in Lebanon against Hezbollah, and calls for resuming talks with Israel.
On Saturday, Salam wrote on X that his government “won’t let anyone drag the country to adventures that threaten its security and unity.”
