Ukraine-born Yisrael Beytenu MK Evgeny Sova, deputy speaker of the Knesset, asks Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked to allow the entry of thousands of immigrants who have expressed a desire to come to Israel after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Sova also asks for help in the extension of visas for Ukrainian citizens currently in Israel who are unable to return home, many of them relatives of Israelis.

“In addition, Israel should consider allowing the entry of Ukrainian citizens who have first-degree Israeli relatives for a limited period of time as tourists, thus assisting in the humanitarian crisis plaguing Eastern Europe,” Sova writes.

Sova was born in the city of Pervomaisk, Ukraine, and immigrated to Israel in 1997 at the age of 17. Speaking on Saturday to Channel 12, he said he has many friends and relatives still living in Ukraine.
