White House urges both sides to avoid civilian casualties
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleWhite House Press Secretary Josh Earnest says both Israel and Hamas must try to avoid civilian casualties in the current round of violence.
He urges both sides to “leave the door open to the possibility of negotiating a cease-fire.”
He reiterated the US’s willingness to use its relationships with countries such as Qatar, Egypt or Turkey to aid in de-escalating the situation, as it did in Operation Pillar of Defense in 2012.
