World Muslim body slams Iran for attacks on Saudi missions

A global Muslim body condemns the attacks on Saudi missions in Iran earlier this month, and denounces Tehran’s regional “interference.”

A statement from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation “condemns the aggressions against the missions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and Mashhad.” The attacks on the missions came after Saudi Arabia executed prominent Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.

The statement comes during an extraordinary meeting requested by Saudi Arabia after protesters in Iran burned Riyadh’s embassy in Tehran and a consulate in the second city of Mashhad.

Such “aggressions” contravened international law as well as the OIC charter, says the communique, which OIC member state Iran rejects.
