Palestinian attacker shot as he attempts to stab soldiers near Nablus
No reports of injuries on Israeli side; assailant taken to hospital in serious condition

A suspected Palestinian attacker was shot by IDF soldiers on Friday afternoon as he attempted to stab security forces near the West Bank village of Beit Furik, south of Nablus.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect approached a military position near the entrance to Nablus and tried to stab one of the soldiers before being shot by other forces present.
There were no reports of injuries on the Israeli side.
The assailant was in serious condition after the shooting and was taken by military ambulance to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva for treatment.

The attempted attack occurred at a junction between the settlements of Itamar and Alon Moreh. The road leading into Alon Moreh has been closed to traffic, according to residents.
The incident was the latest in a wave of terror attacks and attempted attacks against civilians and security forces that have so far claimed the lives of 33 Israelis and four foreign nationals since early October. On the Palestinian side, more than 200 have been killed in that same period, a majority of them while carrying out attacks, according to the Israel military.
After a devastating Palestinian terror attack in Tel Aviv on Wednesday claimed the lives of four Israelis, Israel ordered the West Bank and the Gaza Strip sealed off for the Shavuot holiday, with the closure beginning overnight Thursday-Friday and lasting until late Sunday night, when the holiday ends.
“In accordance with government directives and the ongoing situation assessment, as of today crossing from the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria [the West Bank] will be open to Palestinians only in medical and humanitarian cases,” an IDF spokesperson said on Friday.
She said that the closure would remain in force until midnight Sunday.
In an initial Israeli response to the Tel Aviv shooting, the Defense Ministry’s civil administration in the Palestinian territories, COGAT, said early Thursday that it had frozen 83,000 permits for Palestinians in the West Bank to visit relatives in Israel during Ramadan. Special Ramadan permits were also suspended for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to travel out of the territory to attend prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Access to the mosque for West Bank Palestinians who had received advance permits, however, was unchanged.
