An Israeli woman was treated for shock after her vehicle came under gunfire from unknown assailants on a northern West Bank road early Wednesday morning, the latest in a series of attacks on West Bank roads in recent weeks.

The attack occurred at the Habitot Junction south of Nablus. The woman was driving south on Road 60 between the Palestinian village of Hawara and the Israeli settlement of K’far Tapuah.

Though a few shots were fired at the vehicle, only one bullet was found to have hit the car, authorities said. It was apparently fired from a passing car.

IDF forces were sweeping the area in an effort to locate the shooters.

The past year has seen a rising number of attacks by individual Palestinians against Israeli civilians, both in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including shooting attacks, stabbings and vehicular attacks.

Earlier this week, Palestinians calls for a “day of rage” over the death of Riham Dawabsha, who succumbed Sunday to wounds suffered in as firebombing attack in late July, apparently carried out by Jewish terrorists. Dawabsha’s husband and 18-month-old son were also killed in the arson.
