After 482 days, Kibbutz Nir Oz ‘saba’ Gadi Mozes released from Gaza captivity
80-year-old was taken hostage by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists who released him as part of a mediated ceasefire on Jan. 30, 2025

On January 30, 2025, Gadi Mozes, 80, was released from captivity in Gaza as part of phase one of a mediated ceasefire-hostage release deal. He was handed over to the Red Cross, who delivered him to IDF soldiers who escorted him into Israel. Below is what we initially knew of his capture:
Gadi Moshe Mozes, 79 (now 80), was taken captive on October 7 from Kibbutz Nir Oz, as he tried to bargain with Hamas terrorists who attacked the community.
Mozes, a lifelong farmer and potato expert, was life partner to Efrat Katz, 69, with a large, extended family in Nir Oz.
He was last seen outside his home, as terrorists demanded money and the keys to his car.
Katz was inside the home with her daughter, Doron, who was visiting for the weekend with her two children, Raz and Aviv Asher.
Doron Katz Asher and her two small daughters were all taken captive.
Mozes was taken captive separately, and a photo taken of him by Hamas was found by his son, several days later.
His partner, Efrat Katz was presumed captive as well, but her body was found several days later and she was buried by her remaining family and friends.
