Three killed when two cars collide north of Tel Aviv, burst into flames
Vehicles slam into each other on Route 5 at Hakfar Hayarok Interchange, leaving victims trapped inside burning vehicles; police say one car may have been stolen
Three men were killed early Tuesday morning when their two cars collided north of Tel Aviv and then burst into flames, with the occupants trapped inside.
The deadly crash occurred at the Hakfar Hayarok Interchange on Route 5.
Medics who rushed to the location declared the three men, aged 30, 35, and 44, dead at the scene.
Israel Police opened an investigation and said in a statement that one of the vehicles involved was apparently stolen.
The suspected stolen car had only the driver in it, according to the Ynet news site.
The outlet noted that car thieves often use Route 5 after stealing vehicles from the country’s center because it offers direct passage, without traffic lights, to the West Bank, where they take the cars.
