Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleWASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration says it has provided Congress with 97 pages of documents related to the September attack in Benghazi, Libya.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki says the documents deal with talking points used by UN Ambassador Susan Rice to explain the attack that killed four Americans. The administration later disowned Rice’s claim it was a spontaneous protest hijacked by extremists.
Psaki says most documents already are public.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee subpoenaed the records last month. Republican members believe the talking points may have been modified for political reasons.
Psaki says the administration has provided 25,000 pages of documents for congressional review. She says Congress should focus on helping provide better security at US diplomatic posts abroad.
