And Naftali Bennett wins… on Wikipedia
Ascendant right-wing leader receives far more views on his Hebrew-language page than any of his rivals — including Netanyahu
The Jewish Home party along with its leader Naftali Bennett have received more views on their Hebrew Wikipedia pages than the other political parties and their leaders, according to data from the last two months released by Wikipedia’s Israel office on Sunday.
Confirming the explosion of interest in the newcomer leader of the national religious right, Bennett’s Wikipedia page received 120,718 views, far above his nearest rival, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose page was viewed 44,991 times.
Labor leader Shelly Yachimovich was third at 35,467, barely edging out Hatnua leader Tzipi Livni, who got 35,092. Yair Lapid of Yesh Atid was fifth with 25,645 views.
Eldad Yaniv, former journalist and leader of the Eretz Hadashah party, was sixth with 24,612, and Am Shalem leader Haim Amsalem was seventh at 15,692.
The Hebrew Wikipedia page of the Jewish Home party itself also came out on top versus other parties, with 48,412 views. The Eretz Hadashah party’s page was second with 31,811.
Third place was taken by Labor at 30,718 views, fourth by the Likud with 28,373 views, fifth by Hatnua at 24,459 views, sixth by Yesh Atid with 21,738 views, and seventh by Kadima at 20,899.
However, when it comes to the English Wikipedia, perhaps fueled by recent endorsements from American luminaries Donald Trump and Chuck Norris, Netanyahu’s page towers above all competition with 178,896 views over the past two months.
Livni was second in the English listings at 44,679, and Bennett third at 36,227.
