Collision on Route 431 leaves 1 dead, 1 critical
Passenger killed as truck plows into rear of another large vehicle on central artery between Ramle and Rishon
A man in his 50s was killed when the truck he was traveling in collided with another truck on the central Route 431 between Ramle and Rishon Lezion on Monday afternoon.
The victim was a passenger in the truck that plowed into the rear of the other vehicle. The driver, also in his 50s, was seriously injured and evacuated to Tel Hashomer Hospital. The cabin in which they were sitting in was torn apart from the impact, the Israeli media said.
Volunteer rescue personnel from United Hatzalah were the first on the scene. The truck’s passenger was already dead by the time rescuers managed to extract him from the wreckage.
“I arrived at the scene of an accident involving two trucks,” said Hatzalah volunteer Dudi Oberlander. “I administered treatment to the truck driver who was seriously injured. His passenger was already dead when firefighters pulled him out. The other truck driver involved in the accident required no additional medical treatment. There was heavy traffic due to the accident.”
