Despite rise in cases, Israel has seen just 1 COVID death in 2 weeks

Despite the widespread talk of a new COVID-19 outbreak and the number of active cases rising from 230 to 1,250 in just 10 days, it is worth emphasizing that serious illness and fatalities are continuing their downward trend, meaning the country is still doing well despite the return of some restrictions.

There has been just one COVID-19 death in Israel in the past two weeks, and serious cases are down to just 22 nationwide. The spike in cases hasn’t affected these numbers, largely due to the vaccines protecting at-risk communities and most cases being among young people who are less vulnerable to serious illness.

Additionally, over the past 2-3 days the number of daily new confirmed cases and the positivity rate have been slowly decreasing.
