Hegseth cancels expected visit to Israel amid renewed US-Iran fighting

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has canceled an expected visit to Israel today, an Israeli official confirms to The Times of Israel, following Hebrew media reports on the matter.
Hegseth was expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the visit, the official confirms, but does not say what the meeting would have focused on.
A second Israeli official told The Times of Israel that no reasoning was given for the cancellation of the visit, which comes against the backdrop of renewed hostilities between the US and Iran.
Reports said it was partly intended to ease tensions over a possible US sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey.
