Reports: UK to deploy surveillance aircraft to Mideast to track arms transfers to terror groups
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe United Kingdom will deploy patrol and surveillance aircraft, as well as two Royal Navy ships, to the eastern Mediterranean, according to British media reports.
Downing Street says it is “to support Israel,” the reports say.
The British government says the move is to “track threats to regional stability such as the transfer of weapons to terrorist groups,” according to the BBC.
The Times says that the UK will make surveillance flights over Israel.
The newspaper says the RFA Argus and RFA Lyme Bay will head to the region.
Earlier today, the UK Foreign Office said it would begin arranging commercial evacuation flights for British nationals in Israel.
