Molotov cocktail hurled at Jerusalem light rail

A molotov cocktail was thrown at the Jerusalem light rail Thursday night. There were no injuries and little damage to the rail car.

The bottle was thrown at the train as it passed through the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina. The bottle broke but failed to explode, minimizing damage.

The train continued its course following the incident. Police said they launched an investigation into the attack.

There has been an uptick in violent incidents in the West Bank since Israel launched its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip last week.

Earlier Thursday, a Border Police officer was stabbed near the Damascus Gate outside the capital’s Old City. He suffered slight injuries.

On Tuesday, a woman was injured when her car was stoned near the West Bank Village of Hussan.

Israel agreed to halt hostilities Wednesday night, ending eight days of strikes on Gaza aimed at ending rocket fire on the south of the country.
