Abbas vows to probe violent dispersal of anti-PA protest
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GooglePalestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas promises to investigate the violent dispersal of an anti-government protest by Palestinian riot police a day earlier.
Yesterday, helmeted troops beat demonstrators and journalists with clubs during a protest against Abbas and his policy of security coordination with Israel.
Critics says Abbas and his government are becoming increasingly intolerant of dissent.
Dozens of people have been detained after peaceful protests in the past six months, though have been released.
