‘The way to Tehran has been paved’: IDF chiefs say Air Force to begin operating freely over Iranian capital

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and Israeli Air Force chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar say in a published assessment this morning that “the way to Tehran has been paved.”

“According to the plans, air force fighter jets will begin to carry out strikes on targets in Tehran,” the military adds.

The statement comes after the military said that last night IAF jets struck air defense systems in Tehran, enabling the military more freedom of aerial action above the Iranian capital.

The Fars news agency said two projectiles hit Tehran’s Mehrabad airport, and Iranian media said flames were reported there. Close to key Iranian leadership sites, the airport hosts an air force base with fighter jets and transport aircraft.
