US eschews rebuke of Netanyahu settlement construction pledge
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleResponding to Netanyahu’s vow earlier today to construct thousands of homes in the Ma’ale Adumim settlement, a White House official reiterates Trump’s position that “unrestrained settlement activity does not advance the prospect for peace,” but that past demands for a settlement freeze also have not helped advance talks.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media, says peace envoy Jason Greenblatt’s delegation in the region “is focused on its substantive talks toward an enduring peace deal.”
