The Jewish National Fund-Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael was ordered to pay NIS 720,000 to a man whose back was injured by a fallen eucalyptus tree at Ma’ayan Harod National Park in the Lower Galilee in northern Israel, Israel Radio reported on Tuesday.
The fund was found negligent in the affair because the tree in question was known to be in danger of collapse but no steps were taken to protect the public from the danger. A sign invited the public to walk around the tree.
An additional park visitor was injured by the tree, but that party’s case will be decided separately.
