Palestinian envoy to UK condemns Yom Kippur attack on Manchester synagogue

Palestinian Ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot condemns the deadly attack on Jewish worshippers outside a synagogue in Manchester, which took place on Yom Kippur.

“No one should ever feel unsafe in their home or at their place of worship,” Zomlot tweets.

“My deepest condolences go to the victims and families of today’s heinous attack in Manchester.”

“Violence against civilians must be condemned without hesitation or exception. We stand firm in upholding the rule of law everywhere, rejecting dehumanization, and affirming the equal humanity of all,” the Palestinian envoy adds.

Frenchwoman who escaped Nazi massacre dies aged 100

Camille Senon, a feminist and union activist who narrowly escaped the Nazi massacre in her French village of Oradour-sur-Glane died on Thursday aged 100, the mayor’s office says.

Senon was a young woman when the Third Reich’s elite SS unit marched into Oradour on June 10, 1944, killing 642 villagers, including all of her family.

“I was working in Limoges, but I would return to Oradour at the weekend. That day I took the tramway as usual, and we quickly saw the black smoke in the distance,” Senon told AFP in 2017.

“They kept us several hours, explaining to us what they had done to Oradour and letting us believe that maybe they would kill us too,” she recounted.

“What I saw next is hard to speak of. There was not a soul left alive.”

Most of the victims were women and children.

After the defeat of Nazi Germany and the liberation of France, Senon joined the CGT union and the Communist Party.

She rose up the male-dominated ranks of the trade union movement to head one of the CGT’s most important women’s sections in Paris.

Throughout her life, Senon, who styled herself as an “eternal rebel”, never gave up fighting for women’s rights.

“When I started working, you have to imagine… women still had to ask their boss for permission to get married! Misogyny and everyday sexism were everywhere, including in trade unions,” said Senon, who celebrated her 100th birthday in June.

In 2014, she ran for municipal elections in Limoges on a left-wing ticket and protested against a visit to the city by Dieudonne, a comic and controversialist convicted for hate speech, antisemitism and advocating terrorism.

Two years later, she refused France’s National Order of Merit, saying she did not want to “renounce my entire life of activism for greater justice and solidarity, freedom, fraternity and peace.”

“It’s important to remind young people not to compromise their values and to remain optimistic, whatever the circumstances,” she said.

“Because even if the world we are facing is worrying, life has shown me that it is never time to despair.”

Police use tear gas and water cannons on Gaza protest in Geneva

Police sprayed tear gas on protesters in Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday evening who were marching in support of the Gaza flotilla, eyewitnesses tell Reuters, which the police confirmed.

“We were retreating and suddenly got heavily gassed,” a eye witness tells Reuters, describing a burning sensation in their eyes and difficult breathing.

Israel’s interception of the flotilla sparked protests in Geneva and Bern, as well as in Italy and Colombia on Thursday.

A photo shared with Reuters by a eyewitness in Geneva shows a large plume of white smoke coming from a street filled with protesters, which they described as tear gas.

A second eyewitness tells Reuters that they saw a large white vehicle spray water on the front line of protesters, which a video shared by the Swiss national broadcaster RTS also showed.

Alexandre Brahier, spokesperson for the Geneva police says that around 3,000 people, mostly adults and young men had joined the protest.

“We had to use control measures including tear gas and water cannons,” he says, adding that protesters were not carrying dangerous arms but were “throwing things”, causing some damage to property spraying graffiti.

Such confrontations are rare for Switzerland although pro-Gaza protests have been gathering momentum in recent weeks.

“Large protests are to be expected in big cities but it’s not every day that we need to resort to control measures like this,” Brahier adds.

Mobile phone footage shared with Reuters shows flares being thrown amidst the crowd, as hundreds of people moving down a crammed street in central Geneva.

One vessel from the flotilla that attempted to break the Israeli maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip is still sailing, according to tracking data and a live stream.

The Marinette apparently had mechanical issues and lagged behind the main armada of over 40 ships, all of which were intercepted and taken over by the Israeli Navy.

According to Global Sumud Flotilla, the Marinette is currently some 80 nautical miles from Gaza.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry warned earlier that if the last ship approaches Gaza, “its attempt to enter an active combat zone and breach the blockade will also be prevented.”

UK chief rabbi after Yom Kippur synagogue attack: ‘This is day we knew would come’

Following the deadly terror attack at a Manchester synagogue that killed two and injured four during Yom Kippur services, British Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis says the toxic environment of Jew hatred in the country made such an event all but inevitable.

“This is the day we hoped we would never see, but which deep down, we knew would come,” Mirvis posts on X. “For so long we have witnessed an unrelenting wave of Jew hatred on our streets, on campuses, on social media and elsewhere – this is the tragic result. This is not only an assault on the Jewish community, but an attack on the very foundations of humanity and the values of compassion, dignity and respect which we all share.”

Mirvis says he spoke with Rabbi Daniel Walker, the spiritual leader of the Heaton Park Synagogue, who was hailed by witnesses as a hero for barricading the doors to the synagogue to stop the attacker from getting inside the sanctuary.

“His courageous leadership, together with the resilience of his congregation, are an inspiration to us all,” Mirvis writes.

“May the victims’ memories be for a blessing and may the injured be granted a swift recovery,” Mirvis concludes. “I pray that this tragedy strengthens our collective resolve to confront antisemitism, in all its guises, once and for all.”

Organizers spurn UK police’s plea to shelve anti-Israel rally after synagogue attack

Organizers of a protest against the UK’s ban on the Palestine Action group have rejected London police’s plea to shelve their rally in the wake of a deadly attack on a Manchester synagogue over Yom Kippur, The Guardian reports.

Postponing the planned Saturday rally would allow law enforcement to focus on protecting Jewish and Muslim communities in wake of the attack, police said in their letter to the organizers.

But organizers nevertheless reject the police’s request and say they will go ahead with the weekend demonstration, which is expected to draw a massive crowd.

In a letter to the Metropolitan police, the organizing group Defend Our Juries reportedly urges officers to “prioritize protecting the community rather than arresting those peacefully holding signs in opposition to the absurd and draconian ban of a domestic direct action group.”

While condemning the Manchester synagogue attack that left two dead and four seriously injured, the activist group insists that it is up to law enforcement whether it wants to dispatch police to secure the protest.

“It appears the political oversight in proscribing Palestine Action, which aimed to save lives in Palestine, is taking away from the police protecting the community from those who seek to take lives,” their letter continues, as quoted by UK outlets.

British police say that the suspect in the deadly attack outside a synagogue in Manchester in northern England is believed to be Jihad al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent. Two members of the Jewish community were killed in the attack.

“We believe the person responsible for today’s attacks is 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie,” the Greater Manchester Police says. “He is a British citizen of Syrian descent.”

Al-Shamie was shot dead by armed officers after ramming a car into pedestrians and stabbing at least one person near a synagogue during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

The police added that three suspects — two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s — are currently in custody and “have been arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.”

Three Hezbollah operatives were killed in Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon over the past day, the military says.

A strike in Kafra on Wednesday afternoon killed Ali Mohammed Qarouni, who the IDF says served as Hezbollah’s local representative in the town, and as part of his role, he was responsible for liaising between the terror group and the residents “on economic and military matters.”

“The terrorist acted to seize private property for the organization’s military needs, such as renting homes for storing weapons and conducting surveillance,” the army says.

A separate strike earlier today in Kfar Reman killed two more Hezbollah operatives, who the IDF says were engineering operatives involved in restoring the terror group’s infrastructure in the Mount Dov and Khiam areas.

Trump administration approves $230M for Lebanese security forces amid push to disarm Hezbollah

US President Donald Trump’s administration approved $230 million for Lebanon’s security forces this week as they push to disarm the once-powerful terror group Hezbollah, sources in Washington and Beirut say.

A Lebanese source familiar with the decision says the funding includes $190 million for the Lebanese Armed Forces and $40 million for the Internal Security Forces.

Democratic US congressional aides say the funds were released just before Washington’s fiscal year ended on September 30. “For a small country like Lebanon, that’s really, really significant,” one of the aides says on a call with reporters, requesting anonymity in order to speak freely.

The US State Department doesn’t respond to a request for comment. The funding was released at a time when the Republican president’s administration has been slashing many foreign assistance programs, saying that its priority in spending taxpayer dollars is America First.

A worshiper at the Manchester synagogue recounts being inside the Jewish house of worship for Yom Kippur services when it was attacked by a terrorist.

“We’d already made sure that the doors and windows were shut,” Rob Kanter tells the Guardian, adding that after they heard gunshots, police entered the synagogue to escort the congregation to safety.

According to Kanter, his first reaction upon hearing the shots was “how are we going to keep ourselves and everyone else safe?” Despite initially feeling “bewildered” as they heard the attack outside, he says the atmosphere inside the synagogue was “actually relatively calm.”

“I would say the mood amongst our fellow congregants was very calm, and everyone deals with these things in their own way,” Kanter adds. “Some people get through this in a very quiet way, others like to talk, some people even try and use an element of humor just to keep themselves going.”

He also says the rabbi tried to continue the service after worshipers were led away from the shul by police, “because at the end of the day, because it’s awkward, and it’s difficult, people have got a multitude of emotions going on, but we carried on, and did not [perform] the whole service, but we did what we could in the circumstances.”

Former premier Naftali Bennett bashes UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the deadly terror attack at a Manchester synagogue during Yom Kippur.

“When antisemitism is surging to levels not seen since the Holocaust, for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer it was instead urgent to recognize ‘a Palestinian state’ instead of focusing on his basic duty to defend Jewish citizens of Britain,” Bennett says in a statement.

Bennett decries “the loss of a moral compass in Europe” and says that in many countries “there are negative repercussions toward the Jewish people.”

‘Diplomatic failure’: Lapid slams Netanyahu after Trump signs order vowing US will defend Qatar

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid slams Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the White House’s announcement that President Donald Trump signed an order vowing the United States will defend Qatar if attacked, following the failed Israeli attack targeting Hamas chiefs in Doha.

“This is a diplomatic failure of incomprehensible scale by Netanyahu’s government,” Lapid writes on X. “A failed attack in Doha, negligent behavior vis-a-vis the [US] administration and zero diplomatic vision lead to the collapse of Israel’s unique status in the US and diplomatic success that Qatar could not have dreamed of two years ago.”

Medics found him unconscious after he sustained a severe head injury. Bystanders tried to perform CPR on the boy, whose lower body was trapped under part of the collapsed PO boxes.

Paramedics took the wounded adolescent to Eilat’s Yoseftal Medical Center while attempting to resuscitate him. Hospital staff declared him dead on arrival.

Police say they are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Egyptian FM warns Gaza war will further escalate if Hamas rejects US plan, which he says has ‘lot of holes’

Egypt’s foreign minister says that Cairo is working with Qatar and Turkey to convince Hamas to accept US President Donald Trump’s plan to end a nearly two-year-old war in Gaza, and warns the conflict will escalate if the Palestinian terrorist group refuses.

Speaking at the French Institute of International Relations in Paris, Badr Abdelatty says it’s clear that Hamas has to disarm and that Israel should not be given an excuse to carry on with its offensive in Gaza.

“Let’s not give any excuse for one party to use Hamas as a pretext for this mad daily killings of civilians. What’s happening is far beyond the seventh of October,” he says, referring to the Hamas-led 2023 terror onslaught that sparked the ongoing war.

“It is beyond revenge. This is ethnic cleansing and genocide in motion. So enough is enough,” Abdelatty adds.

Egypt is a key mediator in efforts to end the Gaza war, and Abdelatty says Cairo is coordinating with Qatar and Turkey to convince Hamas to respond positively to the plan, but he remains very cautious.

“If Hamas refuse, you know, then it would be very difficult. And of course, we will have more escalation. So that’s why we are exerting our intensive efforts in order to make this plan applicable and to get the approval of Hamas,” he says.

Abdelatty says while he is broadly supportive of Trump’s proposal for Gaza, more talks are needed on it.

“There are a lot of holes that need to be filled, we need more discussions on how to implement it, especially on two important issues — governance and security arrangements,” he says. “We are supportive of the Trump plan and the vision to end war and need to move forward.”

When asked whether he fears the Trump plan could lead to forced displacement of Palestinians, he says Egypt will not accept that.

“Displacement will not happen, it will not happen because displacement means the end of the Palestinian cause,” he says. “We will not allow this to happen under any circumstance.”

Abdelatty also declares, “Hamas has no role in the day after.”

“This is a full agreement among us, as Arabs, as Muslims, and even among Hamas people themselves,” the Egyptian diplomat asserts. “They understand very well that they have no role for the day after, and this is a fact.”

UK’s Farage condemns Manchester terror attack, sends condolences to local Jews

MP Nigel Farage, head of the UK’s Reform Party, sends condolences to members of the Jewish community following the deadly terror attack at a Manchester synagogue during Yom Kippur services.

“I am horrified by the attack at a synagogue in Manchester today, particularly on Yom Kippur — the holiest day in the Jewish calendar,” he posts on X. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected and the Jewish community who will be suffering at this time, and my thanks go to the emergency services.”

Farage’s right-wing populist party currently leads in polls to be the UK’s next prime minister, although elections are not expected to be held soon as the Labour government has a clear majority in parliament.

Hamas’s de facto leader in the Gaza Strip has indicated to mediators that he rejects US President Donald Trump’s new proposal for ending the ongoing war between the Palestinian terror group and Israel, the BBC reports.

The unsourced report says Izz al-Din Haddad, who formerly commanded the Gaza City Brigade, is believed to think the plan was designed to end Hamas, whether or not it backs the proposal, and therefore the terrorist organization is ready to keep fighting Israel.

Hinting that the stance of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the war in Gaza and recognition of a Palestinian state contributed to the terror attack in Manchester, Prime Minister Netanyahu says on X, “as I warned at the UN: weakness in the face of terrorism only brings more terrorism. Only strength and unity can defeat it.”

Speaking at the United Nations last week, Netanyahu said to world leaders, including Starmer, who recognized a Palestinian state: “You can’t appease your way out of Jihad, and you won’t escape the Islamist storm by sacrificing Israel. To overcome that storm, you have to stand with Israel. But that’s not what you’re doing.”

“Israel grieves with the Jewish community in the UK after the barbaric terror attack in Manchester,” Netanyahu adds on X after the end of Yom Kippur in Israel.

IDF says GHF aid site in Rafah was targeted by rocket fire

Several rockets were launched from southern Gaza’s Khan Younis at an aid distribution site in Rafah yesterday, the military says.

The rockets struck near the aid site, run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, without causing any damage to the compound itself, according to the IDF.

Despite the rocket fire, the GHF site opened today for aid distribution, the army adds.

Blinken says Trump’s Gaza proposal ‘is essentially the plan developed’ during Biden administration

WASHINGTON — Former US secretary of state Antony Blinken voices support for a Gaza plan laid out by President Donald Trump, saying it’s in line with a deal he pursued under Joe Biden.

“I do think it’s cause for some hope. I certainly hope that the plan gets fully accepted, fully adopted and fully implemented,” Blinken says.

“This is essentially the plan that developed over many months and more or less (was) left in a drawer for the incoming administration, and I’m very, very glad they picked it up,” he tells the podcast of former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara.

But he also acknowledges risks in the framework, including allowing Israel to determine when the situation allows it to withdraw fully from Gaza.

“There’s some loopholes that they could drive a truck through if they wanted to,” Blinken says of Israel.

IDF says troops detained over 400 activists, took control of 41 ships in Gaza flotilla

Over a period of 12 hours between last night and this morning, the Israeli Navy took control of 41 vessels in the flotilla attempting to break the Israeli maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip, according to the military.

Forces of the Shayetet 13 naval commando unit, the Missile Ship Fleet, and the Snapir harbor security unit, along with other Navy forces, were involved in intercepting the flotilla.

The six largest vessels in the flotilla were boarded first, with the smaller ones being tackled later.

Some 400 activists have been detained and brought to Ashdod Port to be deported from Israel.

All of the vessels are being towed to Ashdod Port.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino says soccer “cannot solve geopolitical problems,” as he comes under pressure to suspend Israel amid its ongoing war in Gaza against the Hamas terror group.

The sport’s world governing body says in a statement that at a meeting of the FIFA Council, Infantino “stressed the importance of promoting peace and unity, particularly in the context of the ongoing situation in Gaza.”

“At FIFA, we are committed to using the power of football to bring people together in a divided world,” Infantino says.

“Our thoughts are with those who are suffering in the many conflicts that exist around the world today, and the most important message that football can convey right now is one of peace and unity.”

He adds: “FIFA cannot solve geopolitical problems, but it can and must promote football around the world by harnessing its unifying, educational, cultural and humanitarian values.”

Sa’ar demands Starmer crack down on ‘rampant antisemitic and anti-Israeli incitement’ after deadly attack

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar denounces the deadly terror attack on a synagogue in Manchester during Yom Kippur, saying British Jews are “currently suffering from a horrific wave of antisemitism.”

“The truth must be told: blatant and rampant antisemitic and anti-Israeli incitement, as well as calls of support for terror, have recently become a widespread phenomenon in the streets of London, in cities across Britain, and on its campuses,” Sa’ar writes in a post on X. “The authorities in Britain have failed to take the necessary action to curb this toxic wave of antisemitism and have effectively allowed it to persist.”

Sa’ar adds that Israel “expects more than words from the Starmer government.”

“We expect and demand a change of course, effective action, and enforcement against the rampant antisemitic and anti-Israeli incitement in Britain.”

“The operation is continuing at this very moment and will continue into the night until the handling of the last boat in the flotilla is completed,” police add.

The activists are set to be deported from the country.

Two Palestinians attempted to carry out a car-ramming and shooting attack at a West Bank checkpoint a short while ago, the military says.

The incident took place at the “Bell” checkpoint, where Routes 4436 and 4437 from Beit Ur and Ramallah hit the major Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway Route 443.

According to the IDF, the assailants first tried to ram into soldiers at the checkpoint with their vehicle, before one got out with a firearm and tried to shoot at the troops.

The soldiers returned fire, killing the armed Palestinian. The second assailant was detained, the army says.

No soldiers were wounded.

The rabbi leading Yom Kippur services at the Manchester synagogue targeted in a deadly terror attack is being hailed as a hero, with eyewitnesses describing how he helped protect congregants.

“Rabbi Walker was incredibly calm, he shut the doors to the synagogue to stop him getting inside,” Chava Lewin tells the Daily Mail. “He barricaded everyone inside. He is a hero, this could have been even worse.”

Images from the scene appeared to show a blood stain on the rabbi’s white robe, which some members of the Jewish community wear on holy days.

Another witness who spoke with the BBC described how Walker stayed calm after the attack began and led congregants to safety.

“They are true heroes,” he is quoted as saying.

German judge orders suspects to remain in custody over alleged Hamas terror plot

BERLIN — German authorities remand into custody three alleged members of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on suspicion of plotting attacks on Israeli or Jewish institutions in Germany.

The suspects appeared before an investigating judge in the Western city of Karlsruhe, where formal arrest warrants have been issued, says Ines Peterson, a spokesperson for the federal prosecutors’ office.

They are set to be transferred to a prison for detention ahead of a trial, which is likely to take months as an investigation continues.

Germany’s federal prosecutor announced Wednesday that the suspects were arrested on suspicion of being involved in procuring firearms since earlier this summer. Various weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, and ammunition were found during a raid.

Two of the suspects are German citizens. The federal prosecutor’s office describes the third as being born in Lebanon. They have only been named as Abed Al G., Wael F. M., and Ahmad I., in line with German privacy rules.

Manchester police say that the terrorist who attacked a synagogue today was wearing what appeared to be a suicide vest, and confirm that the victims were “members of the Jewish community.”

At a press conference, Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson says that the suspect, who was “wearing a vest that appeared to be a suicide device,” was shot some seven minutes after the first emergency call was received. Watson does not confirm whether it was indeed an explosive device.

“Following a rapid response, armed officers from Greater Manchester Police intercepted the offender and he was fatally shot by officers within seven minutes of the original call,” Watson says.

He says the suspect drove his car into members of the public outside the synagogue before attacking people with a knife.

“Thanks to the immediate bravery of security staff and the worshippers inside, as well as the fast response of the police, the attacker was prevented from gaining access,” he says.

Arab mediators’ have been having productive talks with Hamas about the US plan for ending the Gaza war have been, and a response from the terror group could come as soon as today, a source familiar with the negotiations tells The Times of Israel.

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he was giving Hamas three or four days to respond and that there was little room for additional negotiations.

The source clarifies that while Hamas’s response will be “positive,” it will still request several amendments to the Israeli proposal, similar to how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu succeeded in making changes in the days leading up to the plan’s release.

The source adds that Qatar itself has been in touch with the US about amending parts of the plan.

An Arab diplomat from one of the mediating countries told The Times of Israel earlier this week that Egypt and Qatar were upset over the changes the US allowed Netanyahu to make at the 11th hour, particularly ones slowing and limiting the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and ones regarding the disarmament of Hamas, which has been a red line for the group.

The attempt by a large activist flotilla to break the Israeli maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip has ended without major incident.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry says the “provocation” by the Global Sumud Flotilla “is over.”

“None of the Hamas-Sumud provocation yachts has succeeded in its attempt to enter an active combat zone or breach the lawful naval blockade,” it says.

Contrary to claims made by some activists — based on wrong tracking information — none of the flotilla’s vessels managed to reach the Israeli-controlled waters off the coast of Gaza, the military has asserted. Tracking data showed one of the flotilla’s boats, Mikeno, apparently appearing suddenly off the coast of Gaza in the morning, where it ostensibly remained for hours with a reported speed of 0 knots and 0° course, indicating the tracker was faulty.

The ministry says “all the passengers are safe and in good health. They are making their way safely to Israel, from where they will be deported to Europe.”

One vessel, with possible mechanical issues, remains at sea at a distance from Gaza. The ministry says that “if it approaches, its attempt to enter an active combat zone and breach the blockade will also be prevented.”

Overnight and this morning, the Israeli Navy continued to intercept the large flotilla attempting to break the Israeli maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Forces of the Shayetet 13 naval commando unit have boarded around 40 of the Global Sumud Flotilla’s 47 boats, detaining hundreds of activists who are now being brought to Ashdod Port to then be deported from the country.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry says “the passengers are safe and in good health.”

At least four of the flotilla’s vessels are stuck at sea due to various technical problems, unrelated to the military’s actions. The Navy is set to detain the activists on those boats as well, or tow them to the port.

The Navy is also scanning the area to ensure no boats managed to sneak past and reach the Strip.

Hamas urges ‘all defenders of freedom’ to denounce Israel’s interception of Gaza-bound flotilla

The Hamas terrorist organization late on Wednesday called Israel’s interception of a Gaza-bound flotilla a “crime of piracy and maritime terrorism against civilians,” urging “all defenders of freedom in the world” to denounce it.

This interception “in international waters, as well as the arrest of activists and journalists” aboard the ships “constitutes a treacherous act of aggression… which adds to the dark record of crimes committed” by Israel, Hamas said in a statement.

Israel and Egypt impose a naval blockade on Gaza to prevent Hamas from importing weapons and the materials to manufacture them. The flotilla is carrying aid and attempting to breach that blockade.

Hamas on October 7, 2023, invaded southern Israel, massacring some 1,200 people and abducting 251 hostages, sparking the near two-year war in Gaza.

Turkey accuses Israel of ‘act of terrorism’ with Gaza flotilla interception

Turkey’s foreign affairs ministry accuses Israel of “an act of terrorism” by intercepting an activist flotilla bound for Gaza with humanitarian aid.

“The attack by Israeli forces in international waters against the Global Sumud flotilla, which was on its way to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, is an act of terrorism that constitutes the most serious violation of international law and endangers the lives of innocent civilians,” the ministry says in a statement.

Navy boards several Gaza flotilla vessels, detaining Greta Thunberg and other activists without incident

The Israeli Navy has boarded several of the Global Sumud Flotilla’s vessels and detained the activists aboard, Israel’s Foreign Ministry says.

The ministry shares a video showing an Israeli soldier handing Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg her belongings after being detained.

“Already several vessels of the Hamas-Sumud flotilla have been safely stopped and their passengers are being transferred to an Israeli port. Greta and her friends are safe and healthy,” the ministry says.

Once brought to Israel, the activists will be deported.

The FBI has cut ties with advocacy group Anti-Defamation League, Kash Patel, the bureau’s director, says.

“This FBI won’t partner with political fronts masquerading as watchdogs,” Patel says in a post on X.

A day earlier, the ADL said that it took down its Glossary of Extremism and Hate after right-wing US activists assailed the online database for including an entry about Turning Point USA, the conservative advocacy group led by slain influencer Charlie Kirk.

X owner Elon Musk, who has branded the US-based antisemitism watchdog an anti-Christian hate group, and Donald Trump Jr., the US president’s son, were among the prominent figures who criticized the database, which served as a resource for researchers, journalists and others.
