IDF chief of staff is reportedly warning that failure to deal with rampant, unchecked settler violence in the West Bank risks limiting Israel’s ability to address security threats in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

Channel 12 quotes Zamir as having warned in unspecified internal deliberations that “if we don’t stop the Jewish rioters,” Israel may have more limited ability to act “along the key fronts in Lebanon, Gaza and Syria.”

“These anarchists could set the area a flame in a moment, causing a situation in which all forces need to be immediately diverted from the Gaza and Lebanon borders to the Judea and Samaria area, without there being any security interest in doing so right now,” he is quoted as having said.

“If this thing isn’t dealt with, it could interfere with everything. We are in a critical period and the focus needs to be on Gaza and Lebanon.”
