PSY to bring his style to Israel

South Korean superstar reportedly to be paid a quarter of a million dollars for two concerts

South Korean superstar rapper/dancer/pop phenomenon PSY is set to perform two shows in Israel in July, according to a Thursday Army Radio report.

The wildly popular singer, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, will reportedly perform a show on July 25 in Tel Aviv and, two days later on July 27, perform again in Eilat. He is to receive $250,000 for his appearances.

PSY, already well-known in his native South Korea, became a global star in 2012 due to the massive success of his “Gangam Style” song and video, which has been viewed over a billion and a half times on YouTube, making it the most viewed music video of all time.

All that popularity is infectious: An Israeli parody, “Gamba Style,” managed to acquire almost 30 million views. “Gamba” is a term used in Israel for sweet red pepper.
