IDF decries attack on Ethiopian-Israeli soldier

In his first comment on the attack on Ethiopian-Israeli soldier Damas Pakada, which sparked a wave of protests, the IDF chief of staff instructs commanders to hold a one-hour session on violence and racism with an emphasis on the Ethiopian-Israeli community.

The head of the IDF’s Personnel Directorate praises the integration of Ethiopian-Israelis in the army, but says “there is still a way to go.” The soldiers are “the pride of the nation and our shield. We will act on all fronts to protect you, and to clarify that we will not tolerate attacks against soldiers. In the name of IDF commanders, we strongly condemn any incidents of violence, whether physical or verbal, and any discrimination.”
