Israel in talks with Moderna to move up vaccine list — report
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Health Ministry confirms reports that Israel is in advanced talks with US drugmaker Moderna to be among the first countries to receive a coronavirus vaccine under development, according to the Ynet news site.
Moderna Inc. said Thursday that the vaccine it is developing with the National Institutes of Health will be tested in 30,000 people in the US as part of a phase III trial, the last step before approval.
Moderna’s chief medical officer is Dr. Tal Zaks, an Israeli.
Israel has previously taken steps to hoard Hydroxychloroquine, though the drug has no proven benefit for COVID-19 patients.
