New Mossad director Roman Gofman has appointed a new deputy after dismissing the previous one last week.
In a statement, the Mossad says “Aleph” — identified only by his first initial in Hebrew — will immediately enter the role of deputy director and head of operations in the spy agency.
“Aleph served in a variety of roles at the core of operational activity and brings with him knowledge, experience, and a deep familiarity with the organization,” the statement reads.
Gofman’s appointment of Aleph was approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the statement adds.
Last week, just days into the role, Gofman dismissed the agency’s deputy director, also identified as “Aleph.”
