TV: Despite loyalty pledge, Likud may yet unseat Netanyahu as leader
Despite a commitment not to seek the ouster of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as Likud leader, senior members of the party are privately musing that if the premier fails to assemble a coalition after the September elections, they may reconsider.
A senior Likud source is quoted by Channel 12 as downplaying the significance of the loyalty pledge signed by the top 40 candidates in the right-wing party on Sunday.
The source says that, should the coalition talks again be deadlocked, as they were after the April elections, Likud members would be forced to “make difficult decisions.”
