UK tabloid claims Al-Qaeda cyanide threat to London Olympics

Users of a website with ties to the al-Qaeda terror group have been discussing how to launch a cyanide poison attack on the summer Olympic games in London, The Sun reported on Monday.

The UK tabloid said that surfers on the site recommended mixing cyanide poison with skin cream to increase its effectiveness.

One user who identified himself as Abu Hija Ansari explained that a hand cream would enable the poison to be absorbed through the skin and advised the use of medical gloves while preparing the potion.

“The skin cream will open the pores in the skin and speed up the absorption and effectiveness of the poison,” he wrote in Arabic on the site.

Another user responded, “It is a good idea and you need to plan well,” and added “It’s time to prepare for the event, as once again they are interfering with innocent Muslims.”

The chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Homeland Security, Tory MP Bernard Jenkin, called for action against the website users.

“I hope the individuals are identified so action can be taken. Those who believe there is no terrorist threat are living in cloud cuckoo land,” he said.

Although The Sun didn’t identify the website in question, it said that the site has 17,000 members around the world and links to six known al-Qaeda terrorists.
