Israeli soldier moderately hurt in overnight arrest raid in West Bank

Serviceman accidentally hit by IDF fire in operation to detain suspects in Deheishe refugee camp near Bethlehem

An IDF soldier was moderately hurt during a military operation overnight Tuesday in the West Bank.

The soldier was shot by accident during an arrest raid to detain two Palestinian suspects in the Deheishe refugee camp near Bethlehem. According to preliminary reports, he was accidentally hit by fire by Israeli troops and taken to hospital in Jerusalem for treatment.

The two suspects were also injured in the incident, one lightly and the other seriously, according to reports in the Hebrew-language press. They too were taken to hospital for treatment.

The IDF said it was investigating the incident.

The Israeli military added in a statement that 25 Palestinian suspects were arrested in raids across the West Bank overnight Tuesday.
