Less than a day after an attempted assassination attempt against former US president Donald Trump, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs screens a compilation of clips showing critics of the government engaging in “incitement against the prime minister” during the cabinet’s weekly meeting in Jerusalem.

In the short video, which was also sent to the press, various protesters and other people can be heard deriding Netanyahu as a “traitor,” “Satan” and an “enemy of the people” — with some appearing to threaten violence against him.

In one clip, a woman who appears to be Ayala Metzger, the daughter-in-law of Hamas hostage Yoram Metzger, can be heard saying “we are waiting with a noose.”

In the full quote according to Haaretz, Metzger is referring to Netanyahu and his wife: “If the hostages don’t return, we are waiting with a noose. This is what you deserve, the noose.”

Following Saturday’s shooting attack against Trump, several Israeli cabinet ministers compared incitement against Netanyahu to threats against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, warning that such threats in Israel may lead to an assassination attempt against the premier.

Netanyahu himself has been repeatedly accused by the left over the years of encouraging incitement that led to the 1995 assassination of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, or at least of contributing to the incendiary political climate that led to the murder.
