US airline Delta says it is extending the suspension of its New York and Atlanta routes to Tel Aviv through September 5, due to the “ongoing conflict in the region.”

“Delta is extending its pause of service to Tel Aviv (TLV) as we continue to closely monitor conditions in the region and prioritize the safety of our customers and employees,” the US carrier says.

Delta previously put the Tel Aviv route on hold through May 31, following the closure of Israel’s airspace on February 28 amid the outbreak of the US-Israeli war with Iran. Flights between Tel Aviv and Atlanta had been delayed through August 4.

Affected flights on the non-stop service to Tel Aviv from New York’s JFK airport and Atlanta will be “processed in Delta’s system on March 28, when customers will receive cancellation notifications,” the carrier announces.

The launch of Delta’s Boston to Tel Aviv service, planned for late October, has been frozen until further notice.
