Defense Minister Yoav Gallant wishes Donald Trump “a speedy recovery and strength” following Saturday’s assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally in which the former US president was shot in the ear.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this event,” Gallant tweets, adding, “We stand with the American people in condemning the violent attempt to shake their great democracy.”

Unlike several other ministers, Gallant does not compare incitement against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the attempt against Trump.

Following the shooting, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi and other members of Netanyahu’s cabinet have warned that such threats in Israel may lead to an assassination attempt against the premier.
