Indian police say that Sajid Akram, one of the terrorists who carried out the deadly terror attack at a Hanukkah event in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, was originally from the southern Indian city of Hyderabad but had limited contact with his family in India.

“The family members have expressed no knowledge of his radical mindset or activities, nor of the circumstances that led to his radicalization,” Telangana state police say in a statement.

Akram and his son killed 15 people and injured dozens more in the massacre. He was killed while carrying out the attack.
