An Israeli hiker in his twenties died overnight Monday during a trek in the Andes, in Peru.
An initial investigation by local authorities found that the hiker suffered from medical problems that were exacerbated by the altitude in which he was trekking.
He was on a trek of a ridge of the Andes range at an altitude of 4,000 meters.
His family was notified.
The man’s body was found by a local tour guide and transferred on Tuesday for examination in a nearby city.

The Foreign Ministry started the process of bringing the man’s body from the remote mountainous location to the capital, Lima, from which it will be flown for burial in Israel.
Ministry officials are in touch with Peruvian authorities.
Three months ago, another Israeli hiker was killed in Peru during a zip-line accident near Machu Picchu.
